RFDS New King-air
As two of the RFDS aircraft neared the end of their servicable lives as aero-medical aircraft, the SE Section acquired the new King-air VH-MVJ which has been equipped as an aero-medical aircraft.

Executive Director, Capt. Clyde Thomson said the new aircraft will serve patients in remote parts on NSW, SA and Queensland for many years to come."The current aircraft, athough well maintained and in good servicable condition are nearing the end of their economic lives as aero-medical aircraft. The most cost effective option for the RFDS was to purchase a replacment aircraft now."

Captain Thompson said thanks to good support the RFDS receives from it's many donors in the city, regional and remote areas, half the purchase and fitout costs have already been met.Captain Thomson said he is confident supporters will help meet the balance of $3.5 million in the near future. "We have a great many loyal donors who respect the RFDS and know just how vital it is to have the right aircraft for the important job of saving lives." he said. With a purchase price of $5.7 million, and costing an additional $1.3 million to fit out as an aero-medical aircraft, the Royal Flying Doctor Service is mounting a special appeal to help meet the balance of these costs.

Funds from Worldflight have contributed towards the provision of UHF radios, CDMA phone and satellite systems for the aircraft.
